TuneSat is the leading independent audio monitoring service. TuneSat’s unique audio fingerprint technology monitors hundreds of TV channels and millions of websites around the world, helping rights holders collect millions of dollars that would otherwise have been lost.
Up to 80 percent of music on TV goes unreported to performance rights organizations (PROs) due to the manual reporting process. Tracking and monetizing music performances with any level of accuracy has been nearly impossible, until now. TuneSat was created by composers to address these large non-compliance issues, and to help rights holders get paid what they’re due.
TuneSat’s service provides transparent music performance data to all rights holders, regardless of size. TuneSat subscribers use this valuable data to recover lost royalties, protect their copyrights, and gain unparalleled business intelligence.
TuneSat is for anyone who wants to track their music or audio content on TV and/or the Internet, for any reason. If you believe that you are not being compensated properly for these uses of your music, TuneSat can help.
TuneSat is the leading independent audio monitoring service. Our technology offers the forensic ability to detect your music within seconds, capturing full duration even in the most extreme “dirty audio” environments such as voice-overs, sound effects, or crowd noise.
TuneSat reports detections as short as three seconds.
Yes, TuneSat can detect your music or audio regardless of what part of the track is being played or if the file has been edited. TuneSat can detect a complete performance from beginning-to-end just as well as a clip lifted from the middle of a track.
Typically, these changes would not affect the detection unless taken to a radical extreme.
TuneSat creates fingerprints using the master recordings of your tracks, regardless of how the tracks might be titled. TuneSat data does not differentiate between the same recordings with different titles.
No. Audio watermarking is the process of embedding new information (a watermark) into an audio file so that it can be identified, much like a tattoo. Audio watermarking requires a file to be put into circulation only after it has been watermarked. Existing files already being broadcast would not be detected using watermarking technology.
Audio fingerprinting, on the other hand, is a passive technology, which means it does not embed anything into the audio file, nor interfere with the broadcast. Much like a fingerprint scanner, TuneSat’s proprietary technology analyzes the unique characteristics of each music file and compares it to other content such as broadcast TV and multimedia files from the Internet for the purpose of detecting a match.
Our service can fingerprint virtually any audio file provided. However, it is always best to provide the highest quality audio such as .AIFF, .WAV, or high quality .MP3.
In order to achieve the optimal experience using TuneSat’s interface, we encourage clients to use an up-to-date version of the Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Chrome web browsers. Additionally, ensuring that the most up-to-date Flash software is running on a current generation operating system such as Windows 7 or Mac OS X will guarantee the best user experience.
TuneSat subscribers benefit from our comprehensive data in three main ways:
There are several ways you can use TuneSat data to help maximize your royalties:
Automated exception reports: TuneSat provides its subscribers with a powerful application that compares digital **PRO royalty statements with their TuneSat data for the corresponding performance period. This automated comparison creates an exception report, which shows all detected performances that were not included in the PRO royalty statement.
While each of the performing rights organizations have different processes for claiming unpaid royalties, TuneSat delivers all of the required data for all of them. With TuneSat reports in hand, you can contact your PRO and work with them to get paid what you’re due.
**For more information on the PRO statements for which automated exception reports are available, please contact us.
Most TuneSat clients immediately discover infringements using TuneSat’s powerful monitoring tools.
Subscribers compare their TuneSat data to licenses that they have issued helping them to identify copyright infringement. TuneSat provides a recording of each detection, giving subscribers irrefutable proof to resolve instances of copyright infringement – putting the money back in their pockets.
Contact us if you’d like to learn how we can help you pursue your copyright infringement claim.
Knowledge is power. By reviewing and analyzing TuneSat’s data, subscribers can learn about key ways their businesses function, and find areas for improvement, such as:
We provide an automated application that compares TuneSat detections with PRO statements, as described above, for the corresponding period, which creates a report detailing unpaid performances.
While each of the performing rights organizations have different processes for claiming unpaid royalties, TuneSat provides all the data you need to submit these claims. With these reports in hand, you can contact your PRO and work with them to get paid what you’re due.
For more questions about exception reports, contact us.
A music cue sheet, created by a licensed broadcaster or production company, is a document that reports the music used within a production. The broadcaster or production company then submits this document to the PROs, which in turn distribute royalties accordingly to their members.
TuneSat’s service can be used to verify the accuracy of your writer/publisher royalty distributions by comparing your TuneSat detections to the quarterly royalty distribution statements issued by your PRO.
